Body

The 6th Edition of the Florida Building Code (2017) has been adopted by the Florida Building Commission and becomes effective on December 31, 2017.  The proposed ordinance establishes standards and guidelines for the administration of the Florida Building Commission in Hernando County.

 

The Florida Building Code is a state-mandated code and is regulated by the Florida Building Commission.  The Florida Building Commission reviews and updates the Florida Building Code on a three-year cycle, and is adopted by the legislature for state-wide use. 

 

Local jurisdictions are authorized to establish standards and guidelines for the local administration of the code through adoption of a local ordinance.  The proposed ordinance establishes these standards and guidelines for Hernando County. 

 

The public hearing was advertised on Saturday, December 2, 2017.

There was Board consensus for the staff to schedule a Workshop regarding the licensing and permitting aspects of the Building Code.
