The County has received a request from The Goldstein Environmental Law Firm to designate the Hammock Ridge development, a 104-unit garden style apartment development as a Brownfield under Chapter 376.80(2)(c), Florida Statutes. Hammock Ridge has requested that Hernando County designate the parcel as a brownfield site based on the perceived contamination thereof resulting from historical and unregulated dumping of materials on the site for an indeterminate amount of time.
The Goldstein Environmental Law Firm will be present at the public hearing to present this request to the Board.
On October 10, 2017, the Board of County Commissioners voted to schedule the final public hearing on the requested resolution designating the Hammock Ridge development site as a Brownfield for Tuesday, October 24, 2017.
On October 24, 2017, the Board of County Commissioners continued the public hearing to December 5, 2017. The site was posted for the public hearing in accordance with Board Policy 24-01.
